About the Faculty of Computing, Information Systems and Mathematics

Professor Tim Ellis - Dean

Our primary aim is to foster an exciting and challenging environment for learning in modern, well-equipped teaching facilities.

The faculty has approximately 150 academic staff, support staff, researchers and research students, with some 1400 students enrolled on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in computing and mathematics.

These range from HND, FdSc, BSc, MComp and MSc courses to research programmes leading to the awards of MPhil, PhD and Masters by Research qualifications.

We build and maintain strong links with industry through the taught programmes (especially via Industrial Placements) and through research collaboration and consultancy, and have an excellent graduate and diplomate employment record. All our courses are designed and regularly reviewed to ensure their currency and relevance to professional and industry needs, and are subject to accreditation by the British Computer Society.

Research within the Faculty underpins the taught courses and spans a range of activities, including digital imaging, information systems, mobile and network technologies and ambient intelligence. These are applied across a variety of sectors including health care, transportation, electronic business and learning technologies.

This website outlines the Faculty's provision which is constantly being updated and enhanced to reflect developments in business and industry. We very much look forward to welcoming you to our vibrant and stimulating learning environment.
